Following up from their announcement as one of the Groovin’ The Moo tour’s headliners, Tame Impala have selected a series of dates to perform their own shows around the country.
The awesome foursome will set sail to Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, and Adelaide, finishing up in Perth as they are wont to do given it’s their hometown, ‘cause mad tour wrap-up parties.
Thanks be to the Tame Impala gods for bestowing tour upon us given that they’re going to the US and Europe to do things, and finding the time and energy to remember their nation bros who helped foster their initial success and fame.
And what success and fame! The self-described “psychedelic hypno-groove melodic rock” music makers were winning and achieving up big last year with their third and latest album Lonerism, being like “all your accolades are belong to us!”
These include: the J Award for Australian Album of the Year, NME’s Album of the Year, Rolling Stone’s Album of the Year (they’ve already won these awards for other albums), plus snaring the #1 spot on Album of the Year polls for Rolling Stone, Triple J, NME, Filter Magazine, FasterLouder and Obscure Sound, and getting it at #7 and #9 on Triple J’s Hottest 100 for 2012.
They also won with every YouTube rendition, this cover - in my opinion - being the biggest win for them in 2012 because it contains all the cutes.
If none of that makes you wanna Tame Impala, well I don’t even know.
Tickets go on sale 9am Thursday 21 February.
